Regular Season Round 11: Sagunto - L`Alfas 57-49

There was a surprise result in Gilet where ninth ranked Sagunto (2-8) won against higher ranked L`Alfas (5-4) 57-49 on Saturday. L`Alfas was trailing by 1 point at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 16-6 charge of Sagunto, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding L`Alfas to just 6 points in fourth quarter. Sagunto forced 32 L`Alfas turnovers. The best player for the winners was Jorge Cerda (182-92) who scored 22 points. Forward Alejandro Alcaniz (192-89) chipped in 13 points and 7 rebounds. Sagunto's coach used a ten-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Belarusian power forward Ivan Zhauniarovich (205-86) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 11 rebounds and Iker Benzazoua added 11 points and 9 rebounds respectively for the guests. Newly promoted Sagunto maintains ninth place in Group E with 2-8 record. L`Alfas lost their third game in a row. L`Alfas at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the fifth position with four games lost. Sagunto will face higher ranked Paterna (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. L`Alfas will play against Cartagena and hope to win that game.
