Regular Season Round 10: Maccabi Ashdod - Bnei Hertzeliyya 88-89

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both fifth ranked Bnei Hasharon and 6th ranked Maccabi Ashdod had identical 5-4 record. But Maccabi Ashdod was not able to use a home court advantage and was edged by the opponent from Hod Hasharon 89-88 on Saturday night. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Maccabi Ashdod won third quarter 25-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Bnei Hasharon made 16-of-20 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. Forward James Singleton (203-81, college: Murray St.) scored 19 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and guard Drew Crawford (196-90, college: Northwestern) chipped in 14 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Bnei Hasharon's coach Mickey Gorke used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side point guard Isaiah Swann (188-85, college: Florida St.) responded with a triple-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists and center Mickell Gladness (211-86) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Four Bnei Hasharon and five Maccabi Ashdod players scored in double figures. Bnei Hasharon have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Ironi Nahariya. Maccabi Ashdod at the other side keeps the sixth position with five games lost. Bnei Hasharon will face league's leader Hapoel Jerusalem at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Maccabi Ashdod will play against Maccabi Haifa (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
