Regular Season Round 5: Qatar - Al Shamal 53-51

Qatar Sports Club's fans can celebrate the first win of their team after three consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Al Shamal (1-3) 53-51. Al Shamal was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Qatar Sports Club dominated on the defensive end, holding Al Shamal to just 7 points in fourth quarter. Qatar Sports Club forced 21 Al Shamal turnovers. Strangely Al Shamal outrebounded Qatar Sports Club 48-30 including 16 on the offensive glass. American swingman Rashad Woods (197-86, college: Kent St.) stepped up and scored 23 points and 7 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import power forward Malcolm White (205-88, college: LSU) chipped in 14 points, 12 rebounds and 5 blocks. American-Nigerian power forward Alvin Mofunanya (203-87, college: Fair Dickinson) responded with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 14 rebounds and the former international forward Khalid Abdalla Adam (200-93) scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Qatar Sports Club left bottom position moving up to sixth place, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Al Shamal. It was Al Shamal's third loss in a row. Qatar Sports Club's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Doha to the arena Al Sadd.
