Very expected game when 12th ranked Real Celta Vigo (2-8) was defeated at home by eighth ranked Arxil Pontevedra (6-4) 54-38 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Arxil Pontevedra. Real Celta Vigo was better in fourth quarter 12-8. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Real Celta Vigo to just 4 points in third quarter. American-Jamaican power forward Yanique Gordon (193-91, college: Cent.Florida) fired 13 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Forward Maria Lago (-92) chipped in 11 points and 5 rebounds. Cristina Loureiro (183-94) produced 15 points and 7 rebounds and American-Nigerian guard Sarah Ogoke (175-90, college: So.Poly State) added 8 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Arxil Pontevedra have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to sixth place in Group A, which they share with Araski AES. Loser Real Celta Vigo dropped to the eleventh position with eight games lost. Arxil Pontevedra will face higher ranked C.Adelantados (#4) in San Cristobal in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Real Celta Vigo will play on the road against the league's second-placed GDKO Bizkaia (#2) in Galdakao and hope to win that game.
