The game between second ranked Argon Uni Girona (9-2) and thirteenth ranked Gran Canaria (4-7) was the most important one in the last round on Saturday night. Argon Uni Girona was defeated by Gran Canaria in a tough game in Las Palmas 67-73. It ended at the same time the nine-game winning streak of Argon Uni Girona. The hosts trailed by 15 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 6 points. Gran Canaria forced 19 Argon Uni Girona turnovers and outrebounded them 45-30 including a 23-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. American center Emily Evers (196-92, college: N.Dakota) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 20 rebounds. Her fellow American import guard Taysha Pye (175-89, college: William & Mary) contributed with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Four Gran Canaria players scored in double figures. Polish forward Daria Mieloszynska (188-83, college: Texas, agency: Interperformances) answered with 17 points and point guard Noemi Jordana (173-80) added 9 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Argon Uni Girona. Gran Canaria moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Ferrol and Campus Promete. Defending champion Argon Uni Girona keeps the second position with two games lost. Gran Canaria is looking forward to face higher ranked Conquero (#3) in Huelva in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Argon Uni Girona will play at home against Mann Filter and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
