Regular Season Round 9: Nantes - Hainaut 81-76

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both tenth ranked Nantes Reze and 9th ranked Hainaut had identical 2-5 record. This time Nantes Reze used a home court advantage and defeated the opponent from Saint-Amand 81-76 on Saturday night. Hainaut trailed by 13 points after 3 quarters before a 27-19 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 76-81 at the end of the game. Nantes Reze looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Spanish swingman Queralt Casas (177-92) who scored 20 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. Canadian forward Katherine Plouffe (190-92, college: Marquette) chipped in a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. Four Nantes Reze players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was point guard Joyce Cousseins-Smith (165-88) who recorded 18 points and Czech forward Romana Hejdova (184-88) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Nantes Reze (3-5) moved-up to ninth place. Hainaut lost sixth consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with six games lost. They share it with Angers. Nantes Reze will meet higher ranked Charleville-Mez. (#6) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Hainaut will play against the league's leader Nice (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
