Regular Season Round 17: Mitsubishi K. - Toyota A. 50-62

There was no surprise in Nagoya where 6th ranked Mitsubishi K. (8-7) was defeated by fourth ranked Toyota A. (12-3) 62-50 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Toyota A.. Mitsubishi K. was better in second period 9-8. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Mitsubishi K. 41-29 including a 30-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was swingman Kaede Kondo (173-91) who scored 20 points (perfect behind the arc making all six shots !!!). International point guard Emi Kudeken (165-84) chipped in 7 points and 9 rebounds. Toyota A.'s coach Don Beck used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International swingman Aya Watanabe (170-92) produced 19 points, 7 assists and 6 steals and international center Asako O (189-87) added 11 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Toyota A. moved-up to third place, which they share with Fujitsu RW. Mitsubishi K. lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with seven games lost. Toyota A. will have a break next round. Mitsubishi K.'s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face again at home their local rival from Nagoya Toyota A..
