Second Stage Round 6: Beijing - Xinjiang 73-71

Round 6 in WCBA means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Beijing where host Beijing Great Wall (4-2) edged league's leader Xinjiang (4-2) 73-71 on Saturday evening. It was a key game for the second position in Top 6. The hosts trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 23-17 charge, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was American center Sylvia Fowles (198-85, college: LSU) who had a double-double by scoring 26 points and 17 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). International Song Gao (188-92) chipped in 13 points. Four Beijing Great Wall players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Lee Wang (170-92) who recorded 35 points (!!!) and 5 rebounds and American center Tina Charles (193-88, college: Connecticut) added 5 points and 15 rebounds respectively. Beijing Great Wall moved-up to second place in Top 6. Xinjiang will play next round against strong Guangdong Dolphins trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Beijing Great Wall will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Shenyang Golden Lions in Dandong.
