Regular Season Round 21: Toyama Grouses - Fukuoka Rizing 85-93

There was a surprise result when eighth ranked Fukuoka Rizing (7-12) defeated on the road 4th placed Toyama Grouses (11-6) 93-85 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 93-85. Fukuoka Rizing looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was a good game for American forward Josh Peppers (201-85, college: Cent.Florida) who led his team to a victory with 28 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). His fellow American import forward Bingo Merriex (206-80, college: TCU) contributed with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Four Fukuoka Rizing players scored in double figures. Joho Masashi (183-82) answered with 29 points and American Drew Viney (204-88, college: Loyola Mary) added 15 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Toyama Grouses. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Fukuoka Rizing maintains eighth place with 7-12 record. Toyama Grouses at the other side dropped to the third position with six games lost. Fukuoka Rizing will have a break next round. Toyama Grouses will play again at home against Fukuoka Rizing and hope to win that game.
