Regular Season Round 12: Mark Basket - Alvik Basket 82-75

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 6th ranked Alvik Basket's (5-9) road loss to fifth ranked Mark Basket (7-4) 75-82 on Sunday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 26-12. But Alvik Basket won second period 14-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mark Basket forced 20 Alvik Basket turnovers. Worth to mention a great performance of Spanish forward Grace Alonso de Armino (178-92, college: Freed-Hardeman) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points and 13 rebounds and forward Elin Ljunggren (184-96) who added 20 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was guard Nathalie Schonberg (169-90) with 13 points and 4 assists and forward Paula Juhlin (184-91) scored 9 points and 6 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Alvik Basket's coach Francisco Pinto rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Mark Basket maintains fifth position with 7-4 record. Loser Alvik Basket keeps the sixth place with nine games lost. Mark Basket will meet at home bottom-ranked Akropol (#10) in the next round where they are favorite. Alvik Basket's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Stockholm to the arena Fryshuset.
