Regular Season Round 9: Orvieto - Vigarano 62-69

Vigarano has finally registered their first victory this season after eight consecutive losses. The win is especially important as it came on the road game in Orvieto, where they defeated Orvieto (2-7) 69-62 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Orvieto won third quarter 16-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Vigarano won last quarter 22-17. The best player for the winners was American power forward Samantha Ostarello (188-91, college: Purdue, agency: LBM Management) who had a double-double by scoring 16 points and 19 rebounds. The former international point guard Raelin D'Alie (168-87, college: Wisconsin, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 11 points and 5 assists. Four Vigarano players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Blake Dietrick (178-93, college: Princeton, agency: LBM Management) who recorded 19 points and 7 rebounds and Canadian forward Taryn Wicijowski (190-91, college: Utah, agency: LBM Management) added 15 points and 10 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vigarano (1-8) left bottom position moving up to thirteenth place, which they share with San Giovanni. It was Orvieto's fifth loss in a row. They keep the twelfth position with seven games lost. Vigarano will meet at home higher ranked Cagliari CUS (#10) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Orvieto will play against Napoli and hope to secure a win.
