Regular Season Round 8: Aris Petropolis - Proteas 68-98
Date: December 6, 2015
Bottom-ranked Aris Petropolis is still unable to win any game. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their eighth consecutive match to fifth ranked Proteas (4-4) 98-68 on Sunday evening. Proteas outrebounded Aris Petropolis 45-24 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 18 passes made by Aris Petropolis' players. The winners were led by the former international guard Anastasia Kostaki (172-78) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 14 points, 7 rebounds and 11 assists and American guard Katie Rutan (173-90, college: Maryland) supported her with 18 points and 7 assists. Five Proteas players scored in double figures. Even 12 points and 6 rebounds by point guard Makrinika (173) did not help to save the game for Aris Petropolis. point guard Anastasia Tserou (166-95) added 13 points for the hosts. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Proteas moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Athinaikos and PAOK. Newly promoted Aris Petropolis still closes the standings with eight games lost. Proteas will meet at home PAOK (#4) in the next round. Aris Petropolis will play against the league's second-placed Panathinaikos (#2) in Athens and hopes to get finally their first victory.
