Regular Season Round 10: Almeria - Plenilunio 64-42

There was a small surprise when tenth ranked Almeria (4-6) outleveled at home 7th ranked Plenilunio (5-5) 64-42 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Almeria. Plenilunio was better in third quarter 14-7. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Almeria held Plenilunio to an opponent 22.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 42.9 percent accuracy of the winners. Jamaican center Tajay Ashmeade (190-89, college: Seton Hall) fired a double-double by scoring 19 points and 21 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Alicia Gonzalez (187-86) chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds. Swingman Maria Bolonio (180-85) produced 16 points and 6 rebounds and power forward Elena Diaz (188-92) added 12 points and 7 rebounds respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Almeria maintains tenth position in Group B with 4-6 record. Loser Plenilunio keeps the seventh place with five games lost. Almeria will face higher ranked Leganes (#8) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
