Regular Season Round 10: Badajoz - GDKO Bizkaia 56-72

There was no surprise when 9th ranked Badajoz BF (3-7) was defeated at home by second ranked GDKO Bizkaia (9-1) 72-56 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by GDKO Bizkaia. Badajoz BF was better in third quarter 22-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Badajoz BF 41-20 including a 28-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. American Margaret Roundtree (183-88, college: Gardner-Webb) fired 28 points and 8 rebounds (on 12-of-14 shooting from the field) for the winners. Center Patricia Valiente (185-84, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds. Roundtree is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Swedish guard Ozlem Alkan (174-90) produced 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Patricia Zurita added 18 points respectively for lost side. GDKO Bizkaia have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of Group A leader, which they share with Al-Qazeres. Badajoz BF lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with seven games lost. GDKO Bizkaia will face Real Celta Vigo (#12) at home in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Badajoz BF will play against Araski AES in Vitoria-Gasteiz and hope to win that game.
