Regular Season Round 9: Adelaide - Dandenong 72-70

Important game to mention about took place in Adelaide. Eighth ranked Adelaide Lightning (4-8) saved a 2-point victory at home edging 5th ranked Dandenong Rangers (6-5) 72-70 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Dandenong Rangers. Dandenong Rangers were ahead by 9 points after three quarters before a 19-8 charge of Adelaide Lightning, which allowed them to win the game. They also forced 21 Dandenong Rangers turnovers. American forward Mikaela Ruef (190-90, college: Stanford) stepped up and scored 19 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and international point guard Leilani Mitchell (165-85, college: Utah, agency: LBM Management) chipped in 16 points and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was international forward Sara Blicavs (188-93) with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and American forward Annalise Pickrel (190-92, college: Michigan St., agency: LBM Management) scored 23 points and 6 rebounds. Adelaide Lightning maintains eighth place with 4-8 record. Dandenong Rangers at the other side keep the fifth position with five games lost. Adelaide Lightning will play against higher ranked SEQ (#6) in Crestmead in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Dandenong Rangers will play at home against Canberra Capitals and hope to get back on the winning track.
