Regular Season Round 18: Fujitsu RW - Denso Iris 48-45

The most exciting game of round 18 in the WJBL took place in Kawasaki. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 5th ranked Denso Iris (11-5) to third ranked Fujitsu RW (13-3) 48-45 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Denso Iris. Denso Iris were trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 13-9 charge of Fujitsu RW, which allowed them to win the game. Fujitsu RW had a 30-19 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a good game for international point guard Rui Machida (161-93) who led her team to a victory with 7 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. International point guard Mio Shinozaki (167-91) contributed with 10 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. The former international power forward Maki Takada (183-89) replied with 11 points and the former international forward Yuri Ushida (181-89) added 8 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Denso Iris. Fujitsu RW moved-up to second place, which they share with Chanson V-M and Toyota A. Denso Iris at the other side keep the fifth position with five games lost. Fujitsu RW is looking forward to face league's leader JX-Eneos S. in Kashiwa in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Denso Iris will play at home against Toyota A. (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
