Regular Season Round 22: Toyama Grouses - Fukuoka Rizing 91-69

Rather expected game when 8th ranked Fukuoka Rizing (7-13) was crushed on the road by fifth ranked Toyama Grouses (12-6) 91-69 on Sunday. The game without a history. Toyama Grouses led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Toyama Grouses forced 21 Fukuoka Rizing turnovers and outrebounded them 39-28 including 25 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Fukuoka Rizing's players. Joho Masashi (183-82) scored 23 points and 4 assists to lead the charge for the winners and American guard Jermaine Dixon (191-87, college: Pittsburgh, agency: HMS) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four Toyama Grouses players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Josh Peppers (201-85, college: Cent.Florida) responded with 17 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Donnavan Kirk (206-91, college: Miami, FL) scored 14 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field). The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toyama Grouses moved-up to second place, which they share with Akita NH. Loser Fukuoka Rizing keeps the eighth position with 13 games lost. Toyama Grouses will face Okinawa GK (#5) on the road in the next round. Fukuoka Rizing will play against Tokyo Cinq R. and hope to win that game.
