Regular Season Round 6: ASA Jerusalem - Maccabi R.Hen 64-79

D1 top team - Maccabi Ramat Hen (6-0) managed to deliver another win on Monday. This time they beat fifth ranked ASA Jerusalem (2-3) 79-64. Maccabi Ramat Hen made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists comparing to just 11 passes made by ASA Jerusalem's players. American players dominated the game. Forward Kayla Thornton (185-92, college: UTEP) notched a double-double by scoring 29 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists to lead the effort and guard Chelsea Hopkins (173-90, college: San Diego St.) supported her with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Maccabi Ramat Hen players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 10 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists by forward Asia Taylor (185-91, college: Louisville, agency: LBM Management) did not help to save the game for ASA Jerusalem. Center Shamela Hampton (191-87, college: UNLV) added 18 points and 9 rebounds. ASA Jerusalem's coach Boaz Tayeb rotated ten players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Maccabi Ramat Hen have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 6-0 record. ASA Jerusalem lost third consecutive game. They keep the fifth place with three games lost. Maccabi Ramat Hen will meet at home Elitzur Holon (#7) in the next round where they are favorite. ASA Jerusalem will play against Maccabi Ashdod and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
