The game between third ranked Flamengo (6-2) and 13th ranked Caxias do Sul (2-7) in Rio de Janeiro on Tuesday ended with biggest points difference. Flamengo outscored guests from Caxias do Sul 93-51. The game was mostly controlled by Flamengo. Caxias do Sul managed to win third quarter 20-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Caxias do Sul to just 7 points in second quarter. Flamengo dominated down low during the game scoring 58 of its points in the paint compared to Caxias do Sul's 22. They outrebounded Caxias do Sul 37-25 including 29 on the defensive glass. The victory was the third consecutive win for Flamengo. Defending champion maintains third place with 6-2 record having just two points less than leader Paulistano. Loser Caxias do Sul dropped to the fourteenth position with seven games lost. They share it with Rio Claro. Flamengo will meet at home Pinheiros (#5) in the next round. Caxias do Sul will play against Macae (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
