Very expected game when 9th ranked Marghera (4-6) was smashed on the road by fifth ranked Vicenza (7-3) 69-44 on Tuesday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Vicenza's pressure prevailed and they won that period 27-3 extending their advantage to 25 points. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Marghera to just 3 points in fourth quarter. Vicenza dominated down low during the game scoring 44 of its points in the paint compared to Marghera's 20. Vicenza had a 31-17 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Lucia Ferri (182-85) who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 8 rebounds. Center Lorenza Prospero (182-94) contributed with a double-double by scoring 11 points and 11 rebounds for the winners. Five Vicenza players scored in double figures. Guard Irene Mattiuzzo (165-90) replied with 19 points and 7 rebounds and forward Carla Fabris (185-86) added 6 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Marghera. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Vicenza moved-up to fourth place in A2. Newly promoted Marghera keeps the ninth position with six games lost. Vicenza will face Albino (#7) on the road in the next round. Marghera will play against Carugate and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
