There was a surprise result in Nanjing where fourteenth ranked Jiangsu Dragons (7-8) beat higher ranked Shandong Bulls (9-6) 113-99 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by Jiangsu Dragons. Shandong Bulls was better in third quarter 30-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Jiangsu Dragons made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Shandong Bulls turnovers and outrebounded them 39-28 including 27 on the defensive glass. Jiangsu Dragons looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Jiangsu Dragons made 7 blocks. The best player for the winners was American center Greg Oden (213-88, college: Ohio St.) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points, 14 rebounds and 4 blocks. His fellow American import swingman MarShon Brooks (196-89, college: Providence) chipped in 25 points and 8 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Ukrainian point guard Eugene Jeter (180-83, college: Portland) who recorded 26 points and 6 assists and American forward Michael Beasley (208-89, college: Kansas St.) added 23 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Five Jiangsu Dragons and four Shandong Bulls players scored in double figures. Jiangsu Dragons moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Shanghai S. and North Control B. Loser Shandong Bulls keep the sixth position with six games lost. Jiangsu Dragons will face higher ranked Guandong Tigers (#3) in Dongguan in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
