Regular Season Round 6: Al Arabi - Al Wakrah 72-87

Very significant was Al Wakrah's (#8) 15-point road victory against 7th ranked Al Arabi 87-72. Al Arabi was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. American-Ghanian Adamu Saaka (198-88, college: Furman, agency: Court Side) notched a double-double by scoring 21 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and the former international center Mame Souleye (206-87) supported him with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Four Al Wakrah players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 15 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists by American point guard Temi Soyebo (183-84, college: NC-Wilmington) did not help to save the game for Al Arabi. His fellow American import center Todd O'Brien (211-89, college: UAB) added 16 points and 12 rebounds. Al Wakrah (2-3) moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Al Khor. Al Arabi at the other side keeps the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with Qatar and Al Shamal. Al Wakrah will play against league's leader Al Rayyan in Doha in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Al Arabi's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Doha Al Gharafa.
