Regular Season Round 15: TianJin S. - Jilin NE T. 119-89

There was a minor upset in Tianjin where 18th ranked Jilin Tigers (3-12) were outplayed by bottom-ranked TianJin Steel (2-13) 119-89 on Wednesday. The game was mostly controlled by TianJin Steel. Jilin Tigers was better in second period 28-26. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. TianJin Steel forced 21 Jilin Tigers turnovers. Jilin Tigers were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American forward Jason Maxiell (201-83, college: Cincinnati) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 17 rebounds. Forward Nan Zhang (197-81) chipped in 30 points and 4 steals. Five TianJin Steel players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Puerto Rican center Peter Ramos (222-85) who recorded 30 points and 8 rebounds and American swingman Marcus Williams (200-86, college: Arizona, agency: Interperformances) added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. TianJin Steel maintains twentieth place with 2-13 record. Jilin Tigers lost eighth consecutive game. They keep the eighteenth position with 12 games lost. TianJin Steel will face league's second-placed Zhejiang Guangsha Lions in Hangzhou in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
