Regular Season Round 19: Santos - Halc.Rojos 80-94

Very expected game in San Luis Potosi where 10th ranked Santos (4-13) were defeated by fifth ranked Halcones Rojos (8-9) 94-80. The game was mostly controlled by Halcones Rojos. Santos was better in fourth quarter 24-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Santos 42-27 including a 29-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. 31 personal fouls committed by Santos helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Omar Thomas (196-82, college: UTEP) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds (made all of his ten free throws !!!). International guard Jose Estrada (194-94, college: High School) contributed with 14 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. American guard Mark Borders (188-82, college: Tampa) answered with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 assists and the other American import forward Chris Cayole (201-85, college: St.Michael's) added 16 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his eight free throws) in the effort for Santos. Five Halcones Rojos and four Santos players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Halcones Rojos moved-up to fourth place. Santos lost their fifth game in a row. Newly promoted team keep the tenth position with 13 games lost. Halcones Rojos will have a break next round. Santos will play again at home against Halcones Rojos (#4) and hope to win that game.
