Second Stage Round 8: Jiangsu - Liaoning 71-76

The game between Top Four teams took place in Yixing. One of their biggest challengers host Jiangsu Phoenix (12-8) lost to second ranked Liaoning Hengye (9-9) 76-71. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Jiangsu Phoenix. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in Play Out. It looked good early as Jiangsu Phoenix took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Liaoning Hengye had a 23-19 second period charge getting the lead and Jiangsu Phoenix was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 71-76. It was a great shooting night for Liaoning Hengye especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. The winners were led by forward Jiamei Liang (182-92) who scored that evening 28 points and 7 rebounds and American center Kara Braxton (198-83, college: Georgia) supported her with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Even 18 points and 4 steals by guard Na Jinwei (180-92) did not help to save the game for Jiangsu Phoenix. Forward Yi Qiang (193-94) added 13 points and 6 rebounds for the hosts. Liaoning Hengye maintains second position in Play Out with 9-9 record having five points less than leader Bayi. Jiangsu Phoenix at the other side still keeps top place with eight games lost. They share the position with Bayi. Liaoning Hengye will play against Heilongjiang Chenneng (#5) in Harbin in the next round. Jiangsu Phoenix will play on the road against Shandong (#6) in Jinan and hopes to get back on the winning track.
