Regular Season Round 12: Conquero - Gran Canaria 89-65

Not a big story in a game in Huelva where 10th ranked Gran Canaria (4-8) was rolled over by third ranked Conquero (9-3) 89-65. The game was mostly controlled by Conquero. Gran Canaria was better in fourth quarter 22-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for American center Talia Caldwell (188-91, college: California) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds. The other American import forward Haley Peters (190-92, college: Duke) contributed with 27 points (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Conquero players scored in double figures. American guard Taysha Pye (175-89, college: William & Mary) replied with 35 points (!!!) and power forward Kamara Ndeye Thiama (185-97) added 4 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Gran Canaria. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Conquero have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Girona. Gran Canaria at the other side keeps the tenth position with eight games lost. Conquero's next round opponent will be Mann Filter (#5) in Zaragoza. Gran Canaria will play at home against Gernika (#4) and hope to win that game.
