Very important is a road loss of third ranked CASLA (13-9) against tenth ranked Quilmes MP (7-16) on Friday night. Visiting CASLA was defeated by Quilmes MP in a tough game in Mar del Plata 85-91. CASLA was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 55-48 second half run of Quilmes MP. Strangely CASLA outrebounded Quilmes MP 41-27 including 32 on the defensive glass. CASLA was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for American Walter Baxley (193-84, college: Mars Hill, agency: Interperformances) who led the winners and scored 34 points (!!!) and 4 assists. The former international point guard Luis Cequeira (180-85) accounted for 9 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists for the winning side. American Josh Powell (206-83, college: N.Carolina St.) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds and the former international forward Walter Herrmann (206-79) added 16 points and 7 rebounds respectively for CASLA in the defeat. Quilmes MP maintains tenth place with 7-16 record. CASLA lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the third position with nine games lost. They share it with Libertad S.. Quilmes MP will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. CASLA will play on the road against Bahia Basket in Bahia Blanca and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
