Regular Season Round 16: Qingdao E. - Liaoning H. 113-110

A very close game took place in Qingdao between Qingdao Eagles and Liaoning Hunters. Sixteenth ranked Qingdao Eagles (6-10) got a very close home victory over higher ranked Liaoning Hunters (11-5). Qingdao Eagles managed to escape with a 3-point win 113-110 on Friday evening. It was quite big embarassment for the guest team. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Liaoning Hunters. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Qingdao Eagles made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. The winners were led by American point guard Jonathan Gibson (188-87, college: N.Mexico St., agency: Three Eye Sports) who scored that evening 44 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 6 assists (made all of his seven free throws) and the other American import center Alan Williams (203-93, college: UCSB) supported him with 26 points and 15 rebounds. Qingdao Eagles' coach XiaoBin Gong used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Even a double-double of 36 points (!!!), 11 rebounds and 4 assists by American forward Shavlik Randolph (208-83, college: Duke) did not help to save the game for Liaoning Hunters. Forward TianJu He (206-90) added 26 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Four Liaoning Hunters players scored in double figures. Qingdao Eagles moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Fujian QB and Jiangsu TX. Loser Liaoning Hunters dropped to the fifth position with five games lost. Qingdao Eagles will meet at home Jiangsu TX (#15) in the next round. Liaoning Hunters will play against Shandong Bulls (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
