The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Soles as it allowed them to take a leadership position. Soles edged 9th ranked Gigantes in Mexicali 86-84. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Gigantes. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 26-14 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Soles forced 22 Gigantes turnovers. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Soles made 11 blocks. It was a great evening for American forward Chane Behanan (198-92, college: Louisville) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 13 rebounds. Guard Alexander Perez Kaufmann (191-93, agency: Pro Sports) helped adding 15 points and 4 assists. Four Soles players scored in double figures. At the losing side American swingman Tim Pickett (192-81, college: Florida St., agency: Interperformances) responded with a double-double by scoring 35 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds and international forward Edgar Garibay (208-90, college: Long Beach St.) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds. Soles (17-1) have an impressive series of sixteen victories in a row. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Gigantes at the other side dropped to the eighth place with nine games lost. They share the position with Correcaminos. Gigantes will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. Soles will try to continue on its current victory against ninth ranked Gigantes in Toluca.
