WNBL top team - Perth Lynx (10-4) had no problems winning another game on Friday. This time they beat sixth ranked SEQ (6-7) 85-67. The game without a history. Perth Lynx led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Perth Lynx made 8 blocks. American forward Betnijah Laney (183-93, college: Rutgers, agency: LBM Management) fired 17 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. The other American import swingman Samantha Whitcomb (178-88, college: Washington) chipped in 24 points and 4 steals. Four Perth Lynx players scored in double figures. Perth Lynx's coach Andy Stewart used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Jordan Hooper (188-92, college: Nebraska) produced 18 points and 8 rebounds and guard Lauren Mansfield (170-89, college: Iowa St.) added 18 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Perth Lynx maintains first position with 10-4 record. SEQ lost fifth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth place with seven games lost. They share the position with Melbourne. Perth Lynx will meet at home bottom-ranked Canberra Capitals (#9) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. SEQ will play against Townsville Fire and hope to secure a win.
