Regular Season Round 11: Sant Nicolau - Arenys 63-75

Everything could happen in Sabadell at the game between two tied teams. Both eighth ranked Arenys and 9th ranked Sant Nicolau had identical 4-6 record. But Sant Nicolau was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Arenys del Mar 75-63 on Saturday night. The game was mostly controlled by Arenys. Sant Nicolau was better in second period 22-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Arenys forced 23 Sant Nicolau turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. The best player for the winners was guard Aritz Tomas (186-86) who scored 23 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Dutch center Terrence Bieshaar (208-97) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. American guard Keith Wilson (191-83, college: CS Monterey) produced 20 points and forward Marc Sobrepera (201-86) added 9 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the third consecutive win for Arenys. They moved-up to sixth place in Group C-A. Loser Sant Nicolau dropped to the eighth position with seven games lost. Arenys will face higher ranked JAC Sants (#3) in Barcelona in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Sant Nicolau will play on the road against Cornella (#4) and hope to win that game.
