There was a surprise result in Santoago de Comp where eleventh ranked La Bruixa d'Or (5-5) beat higher ranked Blusens Monbus (5-5) 79-71 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Blusens Monbus won third quarter 21-20. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when La Bruixa d'Or won last quarter 24-17. They made 21-of-26 free shots (80.8 percent) during the game. La Bruixa d'Or forced 19 Blusens Monbus turnovers. They shot the lights out from three sinking 12 long-distance shots on high 54.5 percentage. American swingman Chase Simon (198-89, college: Detroit Mercy) scored 22 points and 5 rebounds (perfect from downtown making all five shots) to lead the charge for the winners and Lithuanian forward Marius Grigonis (198-94) chipped in 15 points during the contest. At the losing side Belgian guard Tyler Haws (196-91, college: BYU) responded with 23 points and Lithuanian forward Eimantas Bendzius (205-90) scored 9 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. La Bruixa d'Or moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Blusens Monbus. La Bruixa d'Or will face league's leader Valencia Basket at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
