Very expected game when 13th ranked Segle XXI (2-9) lost to fourth ranked IF Air Europa (7-4) in Barcelona 48-58 on Saturday. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. IF Air Europa dominated on the defensive end, holding Segle XXI to just 5 points in third quarter. Swingman Maria Espana (180-92) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 8 rebounds. Montenegrin guard Aleksandra Vujovic (184-80, agency: Josep and Nicolas) contributed with 17 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Center Laia Sole (184-98) answered with 14 points and point guard Aina Ayuso (181-99) added 9 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Segle XXI. Segle XXI's coach tested eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. The victory was the third consecutive win for IF Air Europa. They maintain fourth place in Group B with 7-4 record, which they share with Estudiantes and UCAM Jairis. Loser Segle XXI dropped to the twelfth position with nine games lost. IF Air Europa will face Plenilunio (#14) in Madrid in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Segle XXI will play on the road against Andratx and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
