Regular Season Round 11: Benidorm - Valencia II 58-60

There was no surprise when 8th ranked Benidorm (3-7) was edged at home by fourth ranked Valencia-2 (6-4) 60-58 on Saturday. Benidorm was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Valencia-2 dominated on the defensive end, holding Benidorm to just 7 points in second quarter. The best player for the winners was forward David Guardia (200-90) who scored 17 points. Point guard Hugo Rueda (183-89) chipped in 11 points. Valencia-2's coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Forward Francisco Solsona (198-89) produced 21 points and 6 rebounds and forward Javier Rodriguez (202-84) added 12 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Valencia-2 maintains fourth place in Group E with 6-4 record. Loser Benidorm keeps the eighth position with seven games lost. Valencia-2 will face league's leader Gandia Basquet at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Benidorm will play against Myrtia (#3) in Murcia and hope to win that game.
