Regular Season Round 15: Samorin - Slovan 88-65

Rather predictable result when fourth ranked Samorin (7-8) smashed at home 6th ranked Slovan (5-10) 88-65. It looked good early as Slovan took a 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Samorin had a 28-10 second period charge getting the lead and Slovan was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 65-88. It was a great shooting night for Samorin especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 60.0 percentage. Slovan was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for international guard Angelika Slamova (173-94) who led the winners and scored 28 points and 5 rebounds. The former international power forward Romana Vynuchalova (192-86, college: Penn St., agency: Regeneracom Sports) accounted for 19 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side. Center Renata Talajkova (189-81) came up with 24 points and 8 rebounds and guard Lena Slezarikova (175-93) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Slovan in the defeat. The victory was the third consecutive win for Samorin. They maintain fourth place with 7-8 record. Slovan at the other side dropped to the fifth position with ten games lost. They share it with Banska Bystrica. Samorin will play against BAM Poprad (#7) at home in the next round. Slovan will play against MBK Ruzomberok and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
