Regular Season Round 11: La Spezia - Viterbo 72-48
Date: December 12, 2015
Very expected game when 6th ranked Viterbo (5-6) was crushed on the road by leader La Spezia (11-0) 72-48 on Saturday. The game without a history. La Spezia led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Viterbo to just 5 points in first quarter. La Spezia forced 22 Viterbo turnovers. It was a great evening for swingman Marta Granzotto (175-92) who led her team to a victory scoring 18 points and 8 rebounds. Latvian power forward Lauma Reke (185-86, college: St.Peter's) helped adding 13 points and 7 rebounds. Giulia Ciavarella (181-97) responded with 13 points and 7 rebounds and guard Chiara Flauret (165-95) scored 8 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Newly promoted La Spezia maintains second place in A2 with 11-0 record despite having the same number of points like the leader Ferrara. Loser Viterbo dropped to the ninth position with six games lost. La Spezia will face Castellammare (#4) in Stabia in the next round. Viterbo will play at home against Civitanova (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
