Regular Season Round 11: Cantbasket - Santurtzi 71-58

Undefeated Santurtzi (6-1) recorded its first loss in Santander on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by ninth ranked Cantbasket (3-4) 71-58. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Santurtzi. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 39-25 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Cantbasket dominated on the defensive end, holding Santurtzi to just 6 points in fourth quarter. It was a great evening for forward Miguel Angel Blanco (195-74) who led his team to a victory scoring 28 points. American guard DeAngelo Hailey (190-90, college: NW Missouri St.) helped adding 8 points and 9 rebounds. Forward Joseba Iglesias (200-83) responded with 22 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Jon Betolaza (179-93) scored 10 points. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Cantbasket moved-up to seventh place in Group A-A, which they share with TAKE Tolosa. Loser Santurtzi keeps the second position with one game lost. They share it with Easo and Ardoi. Cantbasket will meet at home higher ranked Ardoi (#4) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Santurtzi will play against Mondragon and hope to secure a win.
