Regular Season Round 11: Alpo VR - Bolzano 55-59

There was an upset in Verona where higher ranked Alpo VR (6-5) was defeated by thirteenth ranked Bolzano (3-8) 59-55 on Saturday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Alpo VR won fourth quarter 17-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for point guard Viviana Giordano (167-89) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds. Polish-French center Karolina Piotrkiewicz (190-84, college: Liberty) helped adding 15 points and 9 rebounds. Bosnian Marina Dzinic (190-92) responded with 17 points and 8 rebounds and point guard Francesca Santarelli (174-94) scored 7 points and 5 rebounds. Bolzano moved-up to twelfth place in A2. Loser Alpo VR dropped to the seventh position with five games lost. Bolzano will face league's second-placed Milano at home in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
