There was no surprise when 11th ranked Leuven Bears (1-8) were crushed at home by seventh ranked Belfius Mons-Hainaut (5-5) 96-74 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Belfius Mons-Hainaut. Leuven Bears was better in third quarter 23-18. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Belfius Mons-Hainaut had a 27-16 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was international center Amaury Gorgemans (212-92) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 rebounds. American-Bulgarian point guard Andre Collins (183-82, college: Loyola, MD) chipped in 17 points and 4 assists. Belfius Mons-Hainaut's coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward J.J. Avila (201-91, college: Colorado St., agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) produced 17 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Andre Hollins (188-92, college: Minnesota, agency: Pensack Sports) added 15 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Five Belfius Mons-Hainaut and four Leuven Bears players scored in double figures. Belfius Mons-Hainaut moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Brussels. Leuven Bears at the other side stay at the bottom position with eight games lost. Belfius Mons-Hainaut will have a break next round. Leuven Bears will play at home against Liege Basket (#6) and hope to win that game.
