Regular Season Round 11: Catz - HyPo 74-59

The game between Top Four teams took place in Lappeenranta. First ranked host Catz Lappeenranta (13-1) defeated 3rd placed HyPo (6-3) 74-59. 74-59. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of HyPo. The game was mostly controlled by Catz Lappeenranta. HyPo managed to win third quarter 21-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded HyPo 42-27 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Russian forward Elena Reshetko (184-86) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 14 rebounds. American power forward Chandra Harris (185-89, college: Georgia St.) helped adding 19 points and 12 rebounds. Four Catz Lappeenranta players scored in double figures. Catz Lappeenranta's coach Mika Haakana used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The former international power forward Laura Saarinen (186-92) responded with 12 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Bria Goss (178-92, college: Kentucky, agency: Merit Management Group) scored 13 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Catz Lappeenranta have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with 13-1 record. HyPo at the other side keeps the third position with three games lost. Catz Lappeenranta are looking forward to face Forssan Alku (#5) on the road in the next round. HyPo will play against Aanekosken and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
