Second Stage Round 9: Shandong - Jiangsu 60-64

There was no surprise in Jinan where 6th ranked Shandong (1-17) was defeated by third ranked Jiangsu Phoenix (12-8) 64-60 on Saturday. Shandong was trailing by 2 points at halftime but managed to get 8-point lead after three quarters before a 18-6 charge of Jiangsu Phoenix, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Shandong to just 6 points in fourth quarter. The best player for the winners was international point guard Xiaojia Chen (177-88) who scored 25 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Na Jinwei (180-92) chipped in 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Shuo Wang (184-93) who recorded 17 points and center Jing An (184-95) added 12 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Shandong's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Jiangsu Phoenix keeps a position of Play Out leader, which they share with Bayi. Shandong lost sixth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the sixth place with 17 games lost. Jiangsu Phoenix will face Henan (#4) in Jiyuan in the next round. Shandong will play at home against Heilongjiang Chenneng and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
