Regular Season Round 13: Mark Basket - Akropol 73-62

Bottom-ranked Akropol is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their 13th consecutive match to fifth ranked Mark Basket (8-4) 73-62. It looked good early as Akropol took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Mark Basket had a 19-12 second period charge getting the lead and Akropol was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 62-73. Mark Basket forced 34 Akropol turnovers and outrebounded them 36-22 including 16 on the offensive glass. Spanish forward Grace Alonso de Armino (178-92, college: Freed-Hardeman) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 23 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals for the winners and Ukrainian guard Oleksandra Polishchuk (178-87, college: Gonzaga) chipped in 13 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists. Four Mark Basket players scored in double figures. At the losing side forward Evelyn Troha (184-94) responded with 13 points and Greek guard Valeria Sella (178-92) scored 9 points and 4 assists. Mark Basket maintains fifth place with 8-4 record. Akropol at the other side still closes the standings with 13 games lost. Mark Basket will play against higher ranked Sallen (#4) in Uppsala in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Akropol will play at home against Telge (#3) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
