There was a small surprise in Bahia Blanca where sixth ranked Bahia Basket (11-12) defeated 4th ranked CASLA (13-10) 85-76 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 9 points. American center Anthony Laveal Johnson (203-88, college: Fairfield) fired 19 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Point guard Gaston Whelan (188-94) chipped in 16 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international forward Walter Herrmann (206-79) produced 16 points and 6 rebounds and American Josh Powell (206-83, college: N.Carolina St.) added 12 points and 9 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bahia Basket moved-up to fifth place. CASLA lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team dropped to the third position with ten games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
