There was no surprise in Valdivia where 10th ranked CD Castro (8-12) was defeated by third ranked Las Animas (12-8) 82-75 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 26-12 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Las Animas had a 32-21 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Terrell Taylor (203-81, college: Virginia Tech, agency: DTMones) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 32 points and 16 rebounds and forward Jose Cardenas (193-81) who added 13 points and 6 rebounds during the contest. Four Las Animas players scored in double figures. International forward Juan Fontena (196-87) responded with a double-double by scoring 24 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists and Nigerian-American power forward Ike Okoye (206-86, college: Boise St.) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Las Animas moved-up to second place, which they share with CD Valdivia. Loser CD Castro keeps the tenth position with 12 games lost. Las Animas will meet bottom-ranked Puente Alto (#12) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. CD Castro will play against Tinguiririca S.F. and hope to secure a win.
