There was no surprise when 16th ranked Venafro (1-11) was outleveled at home by tenth ranked Empoli (6-6) 74-45 on Sunday. Empoli forced 23 Venafro turnovers. It was a good game for guard Daniele Mariotti (186-84) who led his team to a victory with 21 points. Gianni Terrosi (191-89) contributed with 22 points for the winners. Guard Mario Tamburrini (187-94) replied with 12 points and 5 rebounds and guard Raffaele Minchella (185-91) added 14 points in the effort for Venafro. Venafro's coach already knew that his team would not have a big chance, so allowed to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Empoli maintains tenth position in B with 6-6 record. Loser Venafro keeps the sixteenth place with 11 games lost. Empoli will face higher ranked Cassino (#5) at home in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Venafro will play against Scafati Cesarano (#7) and hope to win that game.
