There was a small surprise when eighth ranked Monsummano (6-6) won against on the road 5th ranked Piombino (7-5) 80-75 on Sunday. It was a good game for point guard Andrea Tommei (181-91) who led his team to a victory with 28 points. Power forward Giorgio Sgobba (202-92) contributed with 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Center Edoardo Persico (208-87, agency: Players Group) replied with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 16 rebounds and point guard Mattia Venucci (185-90) added 16 points and 4 assists in the effort for Piombino. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Monsummano moved-up to seventh place in B. Loser Piombino keeps the fifth position with five games lost. Monsummano will face Bottegone (#13) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Piombino will play against the league's leader Cecina (#1) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.
