No shocking result in a game in Anjo where eighth ranked Aishin Wings (8-10) defeated bottom-ranked Niigata R. (0-20) 74-69 on Sunday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-14. But Niigata R. won second period 26-17. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Aishin Wings won last quarter 17-14. Aishin Wings outrebounded Niigata R. 44-30 including 19 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was international power forward Evelyn Mawuli (180-95) who scored 16 points and 8 rebounds. The former international swingman Tanaka Masaki (171-88) chipped in 12 points and 4 assists. Swingman Sangi Kanade (169-86) produced 18 points and 6 steals and forward Inoue Ai (172-90) added 11 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Aishin Wings have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Mitsubishi K. Niigata R. at the other side still closes the standings. Aishin Wings will face higher ranked Toyota B SR (#6) in Aichi in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
