There was no surprise in Hyvinkaa where 7th ranked Aanekosken (4-7) was defeated by third ranked HyPo (7-4) 87-79 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 11 points after three quarters before their 29-10 charge, which allowed them to win the game. HyPo made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Aanekosken turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international power forward Laura Saarinen (186-92) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 13 points and 11 rebounds and the former international swingman Henna Salomaa (177-89, college: Oakland) who added 16 points and 6 assists during the contest. Five HyPo players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Montia Johnson (185, college: Kent St.) with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 15 rebounds and her fellow American import center Kenya Robinson (182-70, college: New Orleans) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds. HyPo maintains third position with 7-4 record having thirteen points less than leader Catz. Loser Aanekosken keeps the seventh place with seven games lost. HyPo will meet bottom-ranked Peli-Karhut (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. Aanekosken will play against Forssan Alku and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
