Regular Season Round 5: Samorin - ICIM Arad 61-82

The game in Samorin supposed to be also quite interesting. Sixth ranked Romanian ICIM Arad (4-1) played at the court of 8th ranked Slovakian Samorin (1-2). ICIM Arad smashed Samorin 82-61 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 82-61. ICIM Arad dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Samorin's 46. They outrebounded Samorin 32-17 including 22 on the defensive glass. American Monique Reid (185-90, college: Louisville) stepped up and scored 19 points for the winners and her fellow American import swingman Kristen McCarthy (182-90, college: Temple) chipped in 17 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Petra Bartanusova (173-92) responded with 13 points and 5 rebounds and forward Zuzana Mracnova (180-80) scored 11 points. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Samorin's coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. ICIM Arad moved-up to fifth place in Group B. Loser Samorin keeps the eighth position with two games lost. ICIM Arad will meet at home SBS Ostrava (#9) in the next round. Samorin will play against Kara Trutnov and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
