Regular Season Round 24: Saitama Bron. - Hiroshima L. 106-81

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 12th ranked Hiroshima L.'s (1-19) road loss to eleventh ranked Saitama Broncos (3-17) 81-106 on Sunday. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 13-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 106-81. Saitama Broncos outrebounded Hiroshima L. 48-27 including a 35-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Saitama Broncos made 7 blocks. It was a good game for guard Janya Masumoto (183-88) who led his team to a victory with a triple-double by scoring 27 points, 17 rebounds and 10 assists. American power forward Evan Harris (206-86, college: Harvard, agency: I.D.S. Law) contributed with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 16 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks (on 10-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. Four Saitama Broncos players scored in double figures. Coach Ryutaro Onodera's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. American guard Andre Murray (188-87, college: Portland St.) replied with 30 points and 6 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Adam Herman (199-91, college: Concordia, OR) added 28 points and 8 rebounds (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!) in the effort for Hiroshima L.Saitama Broncos maintains eleventh position with 3-17 record. Hiroshima L. lost tenth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the twelfth place with 19 games lost. Saitama Broncos will face higher ranked Takamatsu FA (#10) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Hiroshima L. will play against Shinshu BW in Nagano and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
